22 February – Nannup

After a good breakfast at our B&B, we had a relaxed start to the morning. Heading out of town we thought we were on the scenic route to Balingup – soon we realised we were not! We adjusted our route and took a turn through Greenbushes and found a couple of gems. A lovely old timber church and a mine site with a viewing deck.

When we finally wound our way into Manjimup, we stopped for fuel and some refreshments. Then it was down to Margaret River to check out the surf! Glad we did, there were quite a few out taking some reasonable waves. Further along we stopped off at the river mouth. This only flows to the sea in the winter. This keeps the river healthy.

It was good to see the site of the last stop of the WSL in Australia.

Heading back to our accommodation we had to negotiate a massive rain storm. We had seen it off in the distance. Unfortunately our route took us straight through it. Back at Nannup, they hadn’t had a drop! Another dinner at the pub rounded out our day. Tomorrow, we head back to Fremantle after dropping off the car.

This tree is still used as a lookout for forest fires

This was high enough for me!

Lots of beef cattle in this area
