26-27 February – Sea day and Esperance

Our first day at sea is usually one of reacquainting ourselves with the various places we frequent on the ship. Ian and I went our separate ways. I went for a walk on deck 12. It was incredibly windy. One advantage was there was no one else out walking (plenty of people inside on the treadmills). So I didn’t have to negotiate slower walkers. The downside was the head wind. I managed 20 minutes of pushing into the wind and being blown down the deck in the opposite direction.

The day just goes. Coffee, tea, food, drinks, more food. That’s cruising for you. Oh, yes, using the stairs whenever possible. Unless we need to go up from deck 4 to deck 11!

27 February - Esperance

After a relaxed breakfast, we sat around for all the people to go ashore who needed to get ahead of the day. This is a tender port, so lots of people needed to get ashore for excursions. We have been here before and seen the majority of the sights around the town. So we were in no rush.

When open tenders were called, off we went. It was quite a rough trip across from the ship, but that’s to be expected.

Today we decided to walk up to the lookout, just for some exercise! It was more of a hike than we thought, but we made it. Lovely views up and down the coast.

We walked back into town, found a place for ice cream then headed back to the ship. The town really does put out a lot of information for passengers. It’s quite an event for these small towns having a cruise ship visit.

Beautiful clear water and white sand beaches

A rather knarly banksia seed pod

Pretty foreshore gardens

Still choppy getting back to the ship

Good opportunity to photograph the ship in a tender port
