28th February, 29th February
We now have two sea days to relax and while away the time.
There were a couple of events for us to go to, but the days pass by and before
you know it we are docked in Adelaide.
1st March - Adelaide
Having made some time adjustment, we had to make sure what
we were doing as the ship’s time did not match local time because the captain
decided he would not make the half hour time change. I suppose it will all work
out once we reach Melbourne.
As we have a year of visiting zoos planned, today was
Adelaide Zoo’s turn. Their draw card are their pandas. On the whole it is a
very attractive zoo. Quite small but easy to get around. The pandas are
fascinating. It was very interesting learning from their keeper about how they
came to be at Adelaide Zoo, about their life and habits and simply watching
Wang Wang wander around his enclosure.
His partner, Fu Ni spent the whole time we were there sleeping.
We spent most of the morning there, then took the free bus
back to the main part of the city and walked the length of Rundle Mall in
search of ice cream. We realised we could have saved some time by taking a
different route straight from the zoo – oh well!
We had walked so far away from the station that we took a
bus back along North Terrace. Transport is free for Seniors Card Holders in
Adelaide on a Saturday and Sunday! Then we had the long (45 mins) train journey
back to the ship. Quite an exhausting day, but most enjoyable.
